Why is this important to us?We chose this topic because most of us have either been pet owners or will be some time in our life. When going over different topics at the beginning of the course, we tried to think of how to encompass a topic we were passionate or intrigued about into the material we learned in class. One of our group members, Christina, has ~30 pets ranging from scaley things to furry things and that brought us to our topic of proper pet ownership.
Why is this important to you?Approximately 37-47% of all households in the United States have a dog, and 30-37% have a cat. (Source: APPA) While these numbers decrease for more exotic pets, this shows that pet ownership is an important topic to discuss in America. It's also important then to know the benefits and risks of pet ownership, not only for you and your pets, but also for the people and the world around you. Responsible pet ownership is extremely important.
